Masonry Cleaning

Exterior masonry can become soiled with black carbon, hard water, metallic deposits, graffiti or smoke from a fire. Masonry cleaning exposes the original color of brick and architectural details that can bring the most dramatic of improvements. There are many methods to cleaning masonry which are determined by the contaminant(s) being removed and the masonry’s features.

Several reasons for cleaning masonry include refining the building’s appearance by eliminating dirt or non-historic paint, providing an uncontaminated surface to accurately repoint mortars, slowing down the corrosion of the brick and accurately observing the condition of the masonry.

Our masonry cleaning projects have involved removal of calcium deposits from Depue Fountain in Indianapolis, cleaning of limestone mausoleums and monuments, and cleaning exterior brick on historical buildings such as the Murray Building in downtown Muncie, Indiana.
